The Tiger Mosquito
The Tiger Mosquito is between 5 and 10 mm (smaller than ‘regular’ mosquitoes), black and with marked white bands on legs and abdomen. They have daytime activity, i.e. they will bite us during the day.
These mosquitoes prefer to rest in landscaped areas, near swimming pools or in shady areas, which makes it difficult for us to enjoy these spaces especially in summer.
They are not easy to see as they fly close to the ground, they are small and very fast, filling you with bites without having noticed or seen anything.
They tend to bite below the knees but if you are lying down or you are a child they will bite all over your body. They may even pierce your clothes and sting you even if you wear jeans. They cause very painful skin reactions that in some cases need to be treated by medical personnel.
